My Favorite Dessert: Strawberry Trifle

Last summer I traveled to the United Kingdom, where my British sister introduced me to one of their classic desserts — the famous strawberry trifle from Tesco.

The moment I tried it, I instantly fell in love. I always thought trifle was a very British dessert, but honestly, I’m sure anyone would fall in love with it after the first bite.

During my stay in the UK, I had it almost every day. The taste was so comforting and light that it quickly became my favorite dessert.

When I came back to the United States, the cravings didn’t go away. I kept searching online trying to find the same strawberry trifle, but I couldn’t find anything that tasted similar. Since trifle is mostly a British dessert, it isn’t very common here.

So I decided to recreate it myself.

After experimenting a little, I came up with a simple version using just five ingredients, and surprisingly it tasted very close to the one I had in the UK.

If you have a sweet tooth like me and enjoy trying easy desserts, you should definitely give this one a try. Your taste buds will thank you.

Ingredients:

  • Pound cake
  • Strawberry pie filling
  • Fresh strawberries
  • Vanilla custard pie filling
  • Cool whip cream

Tips :

  • Chill your dessert bowl before assembling the trifle.

  • Lightly sugar the fresh strawberries and let them sit for a few minutes to release their juices.

How to Assemble :

  • Start with a layer of pound cake at the bottom

  • Add fresh sliced strawberries.

  • Spoon strawberry pie filling on top.

  • Add a layer of vanilla custard filling.

  • Finish with Cool Whip cream.

Repeat the layers if your bowl is deep.

Chill the trifle in the refrigerator for about 30–60 minutes before serving so the flavors combine beautifully.

Some desserts stay with you long after the trip ends. This strawberry trifle is one of those sweet memories for me.
